Filler Injections

As we age, our skin loses fat cells that keep it plump and smooth. With this type of volume loss, wrinkles and shadowing may occur. These are natural parts of aging. But if they bother you, ask about facial filler injections.

Fillers are great for those who

  • Desire to reduce wrinkles or lines on the face
  • Add volume to the lips
  • Have lost lost volume to the cheeks, or around the eyes.
  • Desire to re-shape the nose, jaw-line, chin, or cheek bones, but do not want to undergo surgery.

What are fillers?

They’re gel-like substances injected into your skin to give volume and enhance certain features of your face. There are many types of fillers that are available. We carry hyaluronic acid gel fillers. Some can be used on multiple areas of your face, while others should be avoided in certain areas. We can help you decide which hyaluronic acid filler type would be best for you.

What is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring material that the skin also contains. It keeps skin hydrated and plump. The majority of HA fillers are smooth and gel-like. The effects are only transient, lasting 6 to 12 months or longer until the particles are spontaneously absorbed by the body. Most HA fillers include lidocaine, which helps to reduce pain before and during surgery. The following HA fillers have been approved by the FDA:

  • Juvéderm products: Juvéderm XC, VOLUMA, VOLBELLA, VOLLURE
  • Restylane products: Restylane, Restylane Silk, Restylane Lyft, Restylane Refyne, and Restylane Defyne
  • Belotero Balance
  • Radisse

What To Expect During Your Initial Consultation

We will assess your area of concern and check your medical records during your appointment. While the complications of dermal fillers are rare, you must thoroughly disclose your medical history prior to treatment because certain allergies, skin and neurological disorders, or prescriptions may jeopardize your safety and/or efficacy of treatment.

The Injection Filler Treatment

First, your skin will be numbed with a topical local anesthetic. After you’re numb and your face is properly cleansed, you’ll get injections in the areas of your face that you have decided on. You may need a few injections in each area to get the desired look. After the procedure, your skin may be tender and swollen. You may have some mild bruising. As the swelling goes down, the results can be seen more clearly. You may need touch-up injections. Follow your aftercare instructions to get the best results.

How Long Do the Results Last?

The duration of the results of dermal fillers is determined by the medication, the region of operation, and the patient. Hyaluronic acid will typically last from 6 to 18 months. In general, the denser the liquid and the deeper it is injected, the longer it can last.

By repeating the treatments we will be able to maintain the outcomes, while changing the amount as needed to achieve optimum results.
